A quick update on the recent news surrounding the Mexican national teams!
Mexico drew their first game in Copa America. They played to a 0-0 draw against Bolivia. Their next game is on June 15 against the host country, Chile. Unfortunately, Rafael Marquez will be out for the games against Chile and Ecuador.
On June 5, the Mexico U-20s lost 2-0 against Serbia and were knocked out of the U-20 World Cup.
Call ups for the Gold Cup were released.
Mexico drew against Colombia 1-1 on June 9 in their opening game in the Women’s World Cup and lost 2-1 against England on June 13. Their next game is against France on June 17, but Mexico is currently last in Group F.
Héctor Herrera and Porto finished their UCL road trip with a 1-1 draw against FC Basel. Porto plays at home against FC Basel on Tuesday, March 10.
Chicharito played 20 minutes against FC Shalke in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win in the UCL.
Giovani and Jona played a full 90 against Eibar today. Giovani participated in the winning goal with a slick back heel pass to Vietto for the 1-0 victory.
Tecatito Corona continues to play above and beyond expectations, as he scored a header today against Vitesse. He has claimed 3 goals in three games, and now has the most goals of any Mexican abroad (9).
Raul Gudiño was called to Porto’s U19 squad, and helped them win against Real Madrid in a penalty shootout. Raul was outstanding, saving two of Real Madrid’s shots.
Piojo Herrera made a statement that Jésus Dueñas would be called up by El Tri. Almost on cue after the announcement, Dueñas scored a golazo against Juan Aurich in the Copa Libertadores.
Hector Herrera helped FC Porto in their win over Athletic Bilbao, in the Champions league. Herrera scored in the 44th minute in the 2-1 win for Porto.
Both dos Santos bro’s played in Villarreal’s 4-1 of FC Zurich, in the Europa league. Giovani scored in the 78th minute.
Chicharito didn’t see any action against Liverpool or Barcelona, however, he scored in the 4-1 win over UD Cornella, in the Copa del Rey. Also, Ancleotti has stated that he wants to purchase Chicharito for good when his loan is up.
Eleven Mexican Euro’s were called for the friendlies in November, and as of yesterday, Piojo has stated all eleven are confirmed to play after talking with each personally. This would include Carlos Vela, who has been absent from national team play since 2011.

Chicharito won a start this weekend with Real Madrid and played very well. He drew a penalty, had an assist and scored the second goal for Real Madrid. Ancelotti also claimed that it looks like Hernández will get more minutes against Liverpool on Wednesday.
Tecatito Corona continues to impress with FC Twente; He scored a golazo this weekend against Ajax in a 1-1 draw.
Andres Guardado received a standing ovation from fans at PSV, even singing his name in a version of “Cielito Lindo.”
Carlos Vela added an assist for Real Sociedad, but they fell 1-2 to Getafe.
Both dos Santo’s brothers played in Villareal’s 2-0 win against Almeria.
According to Rueben Rodríguez, the following Euro’s will receive a call for Mexico’s November friendlies against Netherlands and Belarus: Jonathan dos Santos, Giovani dos Santos, Tecatito Corona, Chicharito, Raúl Jiménez, Guardado, Ochoa, Vela, Herrera, and Reyes.
Miguel Herrera spoke recently about the future of the national team, claiming that there are no closed doors. Even mentioned Vela and Jona dos Santos by name, saying he would like to see them play in November with El Tri.
Raúl Jiménez made his transfer to Atlético Madrid and played 12 minutes against Real Madrid on Tuesday.
Javier Aquino got off to a good start with Rayo Vallecano, scoring in his first apperance.

The referee for Mexico vs Croatia will be Ravshan Irmatov from Uzbekistan. He previously refereed Swizterland’s 2-1 win against Ecuador.
Mexico will wear their green shirt tomorrow paired with black shorts.
Captain Rafael Marquez says it feels like the first time…at a World Cup. He also states that Mexico will be playing for a win not just a needed draw.
Miguel Herrera is repeating the starting XI of the previous games: Ochoa, Aguilar, Maza, Márquez, Moreno, Layún; Vázquez, Herrera, Guardado; Dos Santos, Peralta.
Herrera also said Mexico would qualify for the next round and said that Croatia’s pre-game talks had to be equaled on the field.
Scolari says that adjusting their goal in the final match in order to pick a second round opponent is ‘stupid.’
Although the match between Brazil and Cameroon has been identified as one vulnerable to match fixing due to the fact that Cameroon has been eliminated, Finke says that such a scenario is out of the question.
