Group A Headlines for June 15, 2014



The referee for the game against Brazil will be Cuneyt Cakir from Turkey.

Also,  Marco Rodriguez(aka Chiquimarco) will referee the game of Belgium against Algeria.


  • Mexico were serenaded in Fortaleza by hundreds of el Tri fans. Several players (and Miguel Herrera) documented the serenades on their social media accounts.
  • Hector Moreno wants to silence the Brazilian crowd on Tuesday. Since Mexico will be playing the home team that might mean that el Tri is at a disadvantage with the number of fans, but that is just extra motivation.


  • Brazil arrived in Fortaleza for their game against Mexico on Tuesday.
  • Hulk left training early Sunday after feeling pain in his hamstring. He later spoke to the media and said he should be well enough to play against Mexico.


  • Eto’o missed training due to a recurring knee problem.


  • Croatian players are currently boycotting the media due to nude photos that were taken while they were in a private pool.
  • Luka Modric was cleared for training after undergoing a foot scan. He is expected to play against Cameroon.
