Mexicans abroad 1/25-1/26

Vela keeps on scoring and earning accolades! He’s doing great but check out how the rest of the Mexicans abroad are doing with their teams!
SPAIN

Hector Moreno (Espanyol)– Moreno played all 90 minutes in the 1-0 Copa del Rey first leg loss to Real Madrid. He then played 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Valencia. Next: Real Madrid 1/28 Copa del Rey; Betis 2/2 La Liga

Javier Aguirre(Espanyol)– Espanyol lost 1-0 against Real Madrid in the first leg of hte Copa del Rey and drew 2-2 in la Liga play against Valencia. Next: Real Madrid 1/28 Copa del Rey; Betis 2/2 La Liga

Andres Guardado (Valencia)– Guardado played all 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Espanyol. Next: Barcelona 2/1 La Liga

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barcelona )– Recovering from a knee injury.

Carlos Vela (Real Sociedad)– Vela played 64 minutes and scored a goal in the 3-1 win against Racing Santander during the Copa del Rey. He scored in the 50th minute and provided an assist in the 4-0 win against Elche. Vela also earned top honors by being named La Liga’s best player for the month of December. His performances during with Real Sociedad have earned him much attention and several rumors have continued to strengthen about a move to Borussia Dortmund, Southampton, or his old team Arsenal. Racing Santander

Elche

Giovani Dos Santos (Villarreal)– Dos Santos played 63 minutes during the 1-0 loss to Valladolid. Next: Osasuna 2/3 La Liga

Javier Aquino(Villarreal)– Aquino played 90 minutes in the 1-0 loss against Valladolid. Next: Osasuna 2/3 La Liga

Nery Castillo(Rayo Vallecano)– Castillo made it on to the field in the 76th minute during the 2-4 loss to Atletico Madrid. Next: Levante 2/1 La Liga

Anibal Zurdo(Sabadell)-Anibal played all 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Ponderradina. Next: Deportivo 2/1

Ulises Davila(Cordoba)– Did not play in the 1-0 loss to Deportivo. Next: 2/2 Alaves

ENGLAND

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (Manchester United)– Hernandez scored for United in the 121st minute of the second leg game against Sunderland in the Carling to decide the winner on penalties. United failed to convert their shots and lost the penalty shootout. Rumors have also strongly swirled around Chicharito and a possible exit from United with Inter Milan or Monaco a possible destination. Next: Cardiff 1/28 Premier League

FRANCE

Guillermo Ochoa(Ajaccio)– Ochoa was given bench time for the 2-0 loss against Caen in the Coupe de France. Ochoa played all 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Sochaux. Next: Evian 2/1 La Ligue

Portugal

Diego Reyes(Porto)– Called up for Mexico’s game against South Korea. Next: Maritimo 2/2 La Liga

Hector Herrera(Porto)– No games until 2/2. Next: Maritimo 2/2 La Liga

Netherlands

Jesus ‘Tecatito’ Corona(Twente)– Match against Groningen postponed. Next: FC Groningen 1/26 Eredivisie

Scotland

Gabriel Rojo de la Vega Piccolo(Patrick Thistle)-– Did not play.

USA

Richard Sanchez(FC Dallas)– Returned to FC Dallas.

  1. Thank you as always for the update Andrea! What are your thoughts on Chicharito going to Monaco? Personally I think it’s a huge step down. I’d like to see him go to Atletico Madrid.

      I wouldn’t want to see him playing in la ligue. There are certainly good teams but I think he can fight for a place at a top 4 team in bigger leagues. The only benefit would be playing time previous to the WC.
