Just like the European leagues, we are back! Catch up on the latest doings of the Mexicans abroad.

SPAIN

Hector Moreno (Espanyol)– Moreno played 90 minutes in the 1-0 win against Celta Vigo. Next: Real Madrid 1/21 La Liga

Javier Aguirre(Espanyol)– Aguirre watched the game from the stands due to suspension. He is also rumored to be leaving Espanyol at the end of the season in order to coach an Asian national team en route to the 2018 World Cup. Next: Real Madrid 1/21 La Liga.

Andres Guardado (Valencia)– Guardado played all 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw against Malaga. Next: Espanyol 1/25 La Liga

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barcelona )– Recovering from a knee injury.

Carlos Vela (Real Sociedad)– Vela played all 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Getafe and provided both assists for his team’s goals. He scored a goal, but it was disallowed. Next: Racing 1/22 La Liga; Elche 1/27 La Liga

Giovani Dos Santos (Villarreal)– Dos Santos played 79 minutes in the 2-0 win against Almeria. He provided an assist for his team’s first goal. Next: Valladolid 1/25 La Liga

Javier Aquino(Villarreal)– Aquino played 72 minutes in the 2-0 win against Almeria. Next: Valladolid 1/25 La Liga

Nery Castillo(Rayo Vallecano)– Castillo played 69 minutes in the 2-0 loss to Elche. Next: Atletico 1/26 La Liga

Anibal Zurdo(Sabadell)– Zurdo played all 90 minutes and scored in the 51st minute during the 4-1 loss to Mallorca. Next: Ponferradina

Ulises Davila(Cordoba)– Davila played the last moments of the 1-0 win against Ponferradina. Next: Deportivo

ENGLAND

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (Manchester United)– Hernandez made it on to the field in the 56th minute and scored his team’s lone goal in the 78th minute during the 3-1 loss to Chelsea. Next: Sunderland 1/22 Carling Cup

FRANCE

Guillermo Ochoa(Ajaccio)– Ochoa played all 90 minutes in the 2-0 loss to Nice. Next: Caen 1/21 Ligue Cup; Sochaux 1/25 La Ligue

Portugal

Diego Reyes(Porto)– Was not called for the 3-0 win against Vitoria Setubal. Next: Maritimo 2/2 La Liga

Hector Herrera(Porto)– Was not called for the 3-0 win against Vitoria Setubal. Next: Maritimo 2/2 La Liga

Netherlands

Jesus ‘Tecatito’ Corona(Twente)– Corona entered the 3-1 win against Heracles Almelo in the 71st minute. Next: FC Groningen 1/26 Eredivisie

Scotland

Gabriel Rojo de la Vega Piccolo(Patrick Thistle)- Was not called for the 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock

USA

Richard Sanchez(FC Dallas)– Returned to FC Dallas.

  1. Not a bad start to 2014 for the euro based Mexicanos! Most of the players in Spain are all having great impact with their teams. This will bring more exposure to liga MX for players which could help others like Peña, Montes, Aguilar, Mier get a crack at a league that suits our style of play. If this players continue like this Mexico will surprise many at Brazil 2014!!!.
