  • Chicharito was able to reach 35 total goals for Mexico after his three in the Confederations cup run. He is now only 11 goals behind leader Jared Borgetti.
  • Mexico’s U-20 fell to Greece after a late goal for a final of 1-2. Mexico will need to recuperate quickly as they face Paraguay in a crucial match on June 25h. The game will start at 11:00 A.M. ET.
  • It appears Chepo will remain Mexico’s coach until the Autumn. Apparently there is a must win ultimatum against Honduras. If unsuccessful  it will leave Mexico without a coach just days before playing the USA in Columbus.
  • The Dos Santos brothers have Euro clubs eyeing them. For Jonathan, Anderlecht in Belgium, and Fiorentina are two major names. As for Giovani, Valencia may be a possible destination out of second division Spain with Mallorca.
  • Mexico will be headed to the Gold cup in just two weeks. Their first match will be against Panama at the Rose Bowl (July 7). Be sure to check Pancho Villa’s Army to see if there is a watch-party near you!
  • Due to injury, Hugo Ayala and Fernando Arce will miss the Gold cup.

Vamos México!

  1. Wow. Mexico is doing bad.

Even the u20 is doing terrible. They lost today vs Paraguay. They left out a lot of good u20 players. What a shame.

  2. I knew México was going to crash in the U20 World Cup. I said it before the tournament that Almaguer wasn’t the right coach for the U20’s. First, he left Fierro out. You can’t leave your best player out. And his overall selection was poor. He left out some good names with first diviosn experience like Pizarro from Pachuca, Luis Loroña and Bedolla from Jaguares, Zúñiga fromAmérica, etc… Almaguer also kept Paco Flores on the bench… He is the best right back on the team. You can’t leave him on the bench. Almaguer has wasted a 2 year project based on the U17 title in 2011 built by Potro Gutiérrez. Potro should be the U 20 coach once the U 17 Wolrd Cup finishes. He is ready to move on to the U20’s.

So much for the “Tecatito” admirers, this and that. Kid can’t even shine for the U20’s yet people want him on the senior team for the Gold Cup. That’s what happens when you hype players and the media tends to do that in México. The kid needs time to blossom, he don’t need no media hype. Don’t hype him. Let him be and keep his head on the groud. He is talented no doubt but he is very individualstic he needs to think more about the team than rather his own self. When he fixes that he is gonna be a great player.

    1. I agree on what you said except on Fierro he is not the best player and not even close yes he had a fantastic tournament when they won the world cup but after that he hasnt shown signs on improvement. Another player left out was Candido Ramirez I think him and Corona woul fit good together.

      1. Let’s agree to disagree. I think Fierro is our most talented player because he can score and set up goals as well. He is still 18. True he didn’t had a good season with Chivas but his class remains intact. Guys like Uvaldo Luna didn’t do as expected. You and I know more Fierro could’ve done more in the place of players like Luna for example.

And Candido played awful in Toulon this year. That’s why he didn’t made the WC squad. Last year he excelled but this year he had quite a poor season. He had lot of chances to make the team at Toulon but didn’t make the most of it.

We need a change. We all had high hopes for this team to make it big but things didn’t turned out as expected. Inarritu has done nothing as sports director. Starting with the indiscipline. They fired Nestor de la Torre because he he wanted discipline and instead hired a clown like Inarritu who gives a damn about discipline and good behavior.
Turns out since de la Torre left his post, chaos is nonstop with FMF starting with the Brazil party and the bad moment the senior and U 20 team are having. The U 17 and 3rd place in the U 20 in Colombiia we’re a big success thanks in part my Nestor de la Torre work as sporting director. Now that he is gone, all that great work has gone to the trash.

  3. FYI, Tecatito linked to Dortmund. That would be nice. Klopp is gonna help him improve and make him a team player. He is a great coach.
