Mexicans Abroad 12/1-12/2

We’d like to offer our condolences to the family of former Pachuca and Colombian goalkeeper Miguel Calero.

Today Calero was officially pronounced brain dead and is now on artificial life support.

Although he wasn’t Mexican by birth, he did a great service to Mexican soccer putting up high both in the Mexican league and in the international tournaments with Pachuca.


Hector Moreno (Espanyol)– Moreno played all 90 minutes in the 3-0 Spanish Cup loss against Sevilla. He’s was out because of a suspension for the 0-0 draw against Granada. Next: Sevilla 12/7 La Liga

Javier Aguirre& Alfredo Tena(Espanyol)– Debuted with a 0-0 draw against Granada. Next: Sevilla 12/7 La Liga.

Andres Guardado (Valencia)– Guardado received the game off for the 3-1 win against Llagostera in the Spanish cup. He entered the 5-2 loss against Real Sociedad in the 65th minute. Next: Lille 12/5 UCL; Osasuna 12/8 La Liga.

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barcelona )– Dos Santos started and played 68 minutes in the 3-1 win against Alaves. He did not suit up for the match against Athletic. Next: Benefica 12/5 UCL; Betis 12/9 La Liga

Anibal Zurdo(Sabadell)– Entered as a substitute in the 90th minute in the 2-1 loss to Numancia. Next: Murcia 12/8

Ulises Davila(Sabadell)– Davila played all 90 minutes in the 2-1 loss to Numancia. Next: Murcia 12/8

Carlos Vela (Real Sociedad)– Vela played the last 13 minutes in the 2-2 draw against Cordoba. He played all 90 minutes and scored a goal via penalty in the 5-2 win against Valencia. Next: Getafe 12/8 La Liga.

Giovani Dos Santos (Mallorca)– Dos Santos played 59 minutes in the 0-0 draw against Deportivo in the Spanish Cup. Mallorca advanced on a 1-1 draw thanks to away goals. Dos Santos entered in the 27th minute and provided an assist in the 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad. Next: Levante 12/9 La Liga


Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (Manchester United)– Hernandez played all 90 minutes in the 1-0 win against West Ham. He remained on the bench for the 4-3 win against Reading. Next: Cluj 12/5 UCL; Manchester City 12/9 Premier League.


Guillermo Ochoa(Ajaccio)– Ochoa played all 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw against St. Etienne. Next: Montpellier 12/8 La Ligue


Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez (Stuttgart) – ‘Maza’ remained on the bench for the 2-1 win against Augsburg. He made it on to the field in the 56th minute for the 1-0 win against SpVgg Fürth. Next: Molde 12/6 Europa League; Schalke 04 12/8 Bundesliga.


Jose Manuel Rivera(RoPS)– Team has already won the league.


Javier Aguirre has been rumored to want Oribe Peralta at Espanyol on loan.

Jorge ‘Chaton’ Enriquez has been strongly linked to Benfica in Portugal.

  1. Man… Calero was a legend in my eyes and I usually laugh when it comes to pachuca. 😦

    He will be missed and I wish the Calero family my best wishes, and at least they have memories.

    Also, you missed the assist Vela had in the game vs Valencia.

    I hear Valencia fans are pisssed at Guardado for being seen laughing after defeat with Carlos Vela. Pellegrino has been sacked, how will that affect Guardados playing time. He hasn’t made the biggest impact at the club.
