The Mexican Football Federation announced Thursday that Guyana agreed to play the upcoming qualifier at a neutral venue. Mexico has qualified for the hexagonal with two games remaining in the current World Cup qualifying stage.
Justino Compean, federation president, had asked earlier in the week to play the game at a venue in the United States.
“Play will be in a neutral country, the release was decided this morning,” said Compean at a press conference. “We’ll know where soon.”
“I don’t know if Guyana consideres the United States a neutral country. They may not see it that way because the amount of Mexicans that support us.”
Mexico faces Guyana on October 12.
