USMNT roster for match against Mexico

Mexico faces the US Men’s national team on Wednesday for an exhibition match at the Estadio Azteca.

Many familiar faces are on the roster which includes six players that play in the Liga MX.

GOALKEEPERS (3): Tim Howard (Everton), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake)

DEFENDERS (6): Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Steven Beithasour (San Jose Earthquakes), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Edgar Castillo (Club Tijuana), Michael Orozco Fiscal (San Luis), Fabian Johnson (Hoffenheim)

MIDFIELDERS (9): DaMarcus Beasley (Puebla), Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Jermaine Jones (Schalke 04), Jose Torres (Pachuca), Brek Shea (FC Dallas), Danny Williams (Hoffenheim), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City)

FORWARDS (4): Terrence Boyd (Rapid Vienna), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy), Herculez Gomez (Santos), Alan Gordon (San Jose Earthquakes), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes)

The teams last met in Philadelphia, PA on August 10, 2011 where they finished with a 1-1 draw.

Mexico’s gold medal winners will not participate in the match but will be present along with the rest of Mexico’s medaling athletes for a recognition ceremony during the match. However, they called several of the Europe based players for the match.

  1. the USA really brought some terrible players they are missing several key players idk it looks like another win for Mexico on home soil again the only thing that is missing from the Mexican squad is GIO, Jonathon and Vela i hope those two feature for the the next two games against costa rica cuz having Jonathon and Hererra in the mid would be good and Vela a sub for CH14

    1. I wouldn’t say these players are terrible. They know how many of the players on el Tri play so that balances things out a little more. But I agree that it will be another win for Mexico on home soil. I don’t think they’ll let go of that record too easily. Gio and Herrera will probably be back for those games. They need the rest after the summer, and since those games will have actual importance I doubt that they’d be left off the list. I’m not so sure about Jonathan and Vela.
