Mexicans Abroad 8/11-8/12

While most of the world has been focused on the Olympics, many of the Mexicans abroad have been focusing on the opening of the new season.

Some leagues have started up, and others are on the brink of kicking off.

Check out how the Mexicans abroad did this week!


Hector Moreno (Espanyol) – Hector Moreno played all 90 minutes during a loss to Zaragoza. Espanyol lost 4-5 in penalties playing for the Memorial Carlos Lapetra. Next: Mallorca 8/18 La Liga

Andres Guardado (Valencia)– Guardado played 90 minutes with Valencia on Thursday, defeating Tottenham 2-0 in a preseason friendly. Next: Real Madrid 8/19 La Liga

Jonathan Dos Santos (Barcelona )– Jonathan was given the number 12 for the upcoming season. He also missed Barcelona’s preseason games due to a muscle injury. According to several sources, he is also close to a move to Sevilla.

Anibal Zurdo(Sabadell)– Anibal played the second half during a preseason 2-1 loss to Reus.

Ulises Davila(Sabadell)– Davila played the second half during a preseason 2-1 loss to Reus.

Carlos Vela (Real Sociedad)– Vela played the second half of the 4-2 preseason win against Varese. Next: Barcelona 8/19 La Liga.

Alan Avila(Alcorcon)– Avila was invited to join Alcorcon after winning Nike’s ‘The Chance.’ He previously played at America CF.


Giovani Dos Santos (Tottenham)– Dos Santos suffered an injury while helping Mexico to the gold medal. Inter Milan have reportedly shown interest as part of a swap with Tottenham.

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (Manchester United)– Hernandez scored during United’s 4-3 preseason win against Hannover. Next: Everton 8/20 Premier League


Guillermo Ochoa(Ajaccio)– Ochoa started his second season with Ajaccio with a 1-0 win against Nice. Next: PSG 8/19 La Ligue


Francisco ‘Maza’ Rodriguez (Stuttgart) – Maza did not play in the latest preseason 3-3 draw against Swansea.


Edson Rivera(Braga B)– Rivera played against Benefica in the first date of the lower division. Next: Naval 8/19


Jose Manuel Rivera(RoPS)– Rivera played all 90 minutes during the 3-2 win against FC Oulu. Next: FC Hämeenlinna 8/18

    1. They’ve all been the same rumors for the summer. The same core of U-23 players keep on popping up, but nothing that we haven’t heard before.

      I did see some notes about Deportivo La Coruña’s interest in Oribe Peralta.
